Or simply take a break to try regional products, unveil the secrets of how we make our wines on a visit to the wineries and cellars, and to challenge your senses with a tasting.

Vertical Tastings

This begins with a visit to the wineries to discover the winemaking processes. Learn from our sommeliers how to compare vintages from different years and appreciate the characteristics that differentiate younger wines from aged wines.

Tasting available for wines like Esporão Reserva, Private Selection, Vinha das Palmeiras (Alicante Bouschet), amongst others. Please, check which vertical tastings are available and corresponding values through reservas@esporao.com.

The tasting includes 4 vintages except for Private Selection Red, with only 3.

Barrel Tastings

Start with a visit to the wineries to learn more about our vinification processes. Explore the world of oak maturation, with a comparative barrel and Esporão wines with and without oak maturation tasting: Esporão Colheita White, Esporão Reserva White, Esporão Colheita Red and Esporão Reserva Red. Blind Tasting with aromatics exercise

Along with wine, olive oil is part of Alentejo’s culture and mediterranean diet. Van ride through Herdade do Esporão with a visit to the Historic Centre

During this visit, travel to the vineyards, discover new sustainable plantation techniques, the organic vineyards and the pioneer initiatives in the scope of sustainability, while observing different species of flora and fauna, unveiling the richness of our biodiversity.

The tour is completed with a visit to the Historic Centre and a tasting of Esporão Colheita White, Esporão Colheita Red and Olival dos Arrifes Organic Olive Oil.

VALENTINE’S DAY WEEKEND

Celebrate this Valentine’s Day with a special program on the weekend of February 14th and 16th.

PROGRAM
12h00 – Guided tour to our cellars and wineries with a tasting of 3 wines
14h00 – Lunch at Herdade do Esporão’s Restaurant with a 5 Moments Menu and 3 wines pairing. It includes a flute of sparkling wine at the beginning (or with the desert).
One-night stay at Estalagem de Monsaraz (Friday or Saturday night), with a Herdade do Esporão’s Sparkling Wine bottle as a welcome gift.

The guided tour/lunch and the one-night stay don’t need to be on the same day.

The Spaces

Restaurant

A project by the architecture studio Skrei, also responsible for the project of the wine cellar of Esporão. The intervention seeks to unify the different environments that characterize the diversity of experiences that the wine tourismo offers. Thus the relationship between the landscape and the interior of the building establishes itself before a strategy of transparency and luminosity. Based on the principle of the concept of supply, we tried to materialize in the spaces the same idea, through the use of materials recovered from the industry itself and the activity of the Estate, namely oak barrels, sheep’s wool and metal.

Tasting room in the Cellar

The tasting room of the cellar was also rethought by the architecture studio SKREI. According to the architect Pedro Jervell, the idea was that one could live the experience of the whole wine producing process. All this environment describes a scenario in which the process is the story that the wine goes through until tasted.

In the middle of this factory scenario, there is a moment of reflection on the history of the company, two wine cellars show the collection resulting from years of production since 1985. To taste this history, ambiguous elements have been designed mixing with the space, which illuminate and serve the wine, just as the ambiguity present in the very tasting of wine, which depends on the person and the context.

Finally, the wood and stainless steel with the Reguengos de Monsaraz typical rugs generate a dialogue of materials that embrace all the structural concrete of the cellars.

Terrace

The ample terrace of the Estate’s restaurant ends where the vineyard begins, offering a panoramic view of the lake. It is ideal for alfresco dining while enjoying the long sunny days of the Alentejo, as well as the tranquillity of a landscape that stretches as far as the eye can see.

Garden

Functioning as an extension of the building, the patio and surrounding garden are both cool and calm, places where seasonal flowers and plants reign and which provide much-needed shade in summer, while enhancing the winter light that reflects off the water.

The edge of the garden has a portico with “casas de fresco” built with grill bricks and a footpath that extends to the neighbouring landscape, as well as the vineyard and reservoir.
