LAND: 50 years, 50 Esporão stories

Land – Written by João Pedro Vala and published by Quetzal, this book is launched in Portugal, in Portuguese and English, in the same year as Esporão’s 50th anniversary. Fifty stories, fifty brief narratives inspired by facts, myths and abstractions that have marked the company’s existence.

João Pedro Vala was commissioned to write a book highlighting some of the most remarkable events throughout Esporão’s fifty-year existence. He opted to create a fictionalized version of the factual history, in order to better portray the life and contributions of so many people.

“At the end of the day, what matters is that this book capture the spirit of Esporão,” João Roquette, Chairman of the Board. “This estate is an ancient soul enhanced by the extraordinary richness and diversity of those who have passed through here. Not only the people but also adventures, needs, desires, conquests, tensions, tragedies, setbacks, advances and retreats; the strength of vision of the company’s founders, the constant twists and transformations, the the sense of respect and purpose that have brought us this far.”
