To grant these awards, Drinks International gathered its academy of experts comprised of wine industry professionals, from traders, retailers, importers, bartenders, cellar and bar owners, to masters of wine, wine critics, journalists and oenology professors. Subsequently, using the services of Wine Intelligence (a company that specializes in market studies, statistics and consulting), more than 160.000 wine consumers were interviewed all over the world. The evaluation criteria include consistent or improving quality, quality-price ratio, the wines’ “sense of place”, country of origin and type of grape varieties produced.
