Wine Enthusiast highlights the wine’s aging in wood, which gives Esporão Private Selection White 2018 notes of tropical fruit, spices and toast: “ This is a rare example of a 100% Sémillon wine from Portugal, perhaps inspired by Winemaker David Baverstock’s Australian background. Wood aged and age-worthy, it is rich in tropical fruits, spice and toastiness.”.

Produced using grapes from Vinha da Palmeiras from Herdade dos Perdigões, one of Esporão’s estates, Esporão Private Selection White 2018 was launched in March 2020. This wine is a clear, straw color. On the nose, aromas of apricot and preserved lemon rind stand out, combined with notes of clove, nutmeg and some white chocolate. Full and rich on the palate, with white pulp fruits predominating and touches of white pepper. Creamy with a long and elegant finish.

Along with Esporão Private Selection White 2018, Wine Enthusiast scored other Esporão Wines: Canto do Zé Cruz 2014, Aragonez with 93 points, the Amphora Vinhas Velhas 2016 with 91 points and Esporão Reserva Red 2017 with 91 points.
