31 years later, the first Monte Velho Reserva

Monte Velho has been delivering outstanding quality, consistency, and innovation throughout its 31-year history. Following the release of Monte Velho rosé and its organic range, Esporão now presents the first barrel-aged Monte Velho. Crafted slowly in the Alentejo, Monte Velho Reserva 2021 is made from a careful selection of Alentejo grapes, followed by eight months’ ageing in used oak barrels.

“The Monte Velho story has brought us here, deepening its identity, elevating it to Reserve quality. It’s an elegant, balanced, and complex wine that’s ideal for all occasions as it pairs wonderfully with a wide range of fine foods. It’s a wine made slowly” says João Ramos, red wine winemaker at Herdade do Esporão.
