At Esporão, we have established the environmental management policy commonly known as the 3Rs – Reduce, Re-use & Recycle, prioritising reduction, whenever possible.To this end, we have implemented a number of initiatives:
- At the purchase stage, the preference is for products and components with as little packaging as possible or that incorporate the greatest quantity of recyclable materials.
- We no longer use bottled water, substituting it with water dispensers and personalised and reusable beakers.Internally, we try to re-use materials as much as possible, such as boxes and pallets.
- Some of the roads at Herdade do Esporão are covered with stone removed from the vineyards (when planting took place), in order to provide a hard surface and protect the soil.
- The signs and entrance at the Herdade are made with stone from the estate.
Employing recycling methodologies for 100% of our activities has brought a number of associated benefits, such as a reduction in the amount of waste generated, the appropriate management of available resources in recyclable waste, and the reduction of the costs associated with waste disposal.
