Quinta dos Murças VV47 results from the oldest vertical vineyard planted in the Douro, in 1947 (VV47), facing southeast. The highest expression of the terroir, characterized by elegance, balance and complexity.

Agriculture

Integrated production (SATIVA certified)

Very wet winter and spring, with low temperatures, followed by a dry and hot summer until middle of September, when intense rainfall started. By this time the harvest had ended and the grapes had been harvested in a perfect state of ripeness.

Vinification / Maturation

Hand-picked grapes, destemming, crushing, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and temperature control (25ºC – 28ºC) in granite ‘lagares’, foot treading and pressing in an old-style vertical press.

Aged in used French oak casks for 12 months.

Intense, with violets hues.

Aroma

Very complex, intense and lively showing mature red fruits, balsamic notes from old vines, and hints of spicy from barrel oak.

Palate

Great balance and elegance, with fine integrated tannins and balancing acidity. Long and persistent finish, with potential for great longevity in the bottle.
