According to José Luís Moreira da Silva, winemaker at Quinta dos Murças, applying ancestral fermentation and ageing methods results ‘from our search for different expressions of the Estate’s terroirs. Due to their more oxidative and less extractive characteristics, amphorae create a very unique reflection of the wine’s vintage and origin. The first Quinta dos Murças Ânfora 2017 is our interpretation of Minas, a specific terroir on the Estate. This red wine originated from vines planted on a slope with altitudes between 110 and 300 metres, facing south, where the most exposed grapes attain greater concentration. These same slopes contain various water springs (minas), which refresh the environment and create a balance between greater ripeness and the typical Murças freshness.’

Quinta dos Murças Ânfora 2017 is fresh and lively, with red fruit aromas and balsamic touches. Prominent, firm tannins, with good acidity and a fruity finish. This wine is sold exclusively in the Wine Tourism shops ate Quinta dos Murças and Herdade do Esporão.
