“Next year we will celebrate 50 years of history since the acquisition of Herdade do Esporão, and receiving such a recognition is one further statement of Esporão’s capacity. A project that now also includes olive oil and craft beer, operating in new territories like Quinta dos Murças in the Douro, and Quinta do Ameal in the Vinho Verde region. When I founded Esporão, back in 1973 with Joaquim Bandeira, the driving force behind the choice of Alentejo, our vision was to make this a breakthrough project. Our journey continues through, even though there is still much to be done. I believe good things will happen through the work of all of those who are part of this project”, José Roquette states.

According to Revista de Vinhos magazine, the “Tribute Award” given to José Roquette is a recognition for his outstanding professional and personal achievements, and a career dedicated to the development of Esporão, one of the largest family companies in the wine industry, making it a leading brand in Portugal.
