Launched in 1985, Esporão Reserva Red was the first wine produced by Esporão. Since then, the company has invited an artist to customize and enrich the labels of Reserva and Private Selection vintages. This tradition has already involved the participation of 32 Portuguese, 1 Brazilian and 2 Angolan artists.

This red wine is obtained solely from grapes grown at Herdade do Esporão, under Integrated Production agriculture practices based on rationalizing natural resources, contributing to a sustainable agriculture and producing fruit with better quality.

During harvest, the grapes used to craft this wine are hand-picked. After vinifying in small tanks, with controlled temperature and pressing, Esporão Reserva Red ages for 12 months in American and French oak barrels.

This wine blend– produced from the Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Trincadeira and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties – has an intense ruby color and offers aromas of wild berries and blueberry jam, enveloped in touches of coffee, black pepper and light toasted notes from the barrel. Intense and dense on the palate, but with firm tannins, lending this wine structure and complexity, and indicating good cellaring potential.
