Esporão first launched the Monte Velho Food Festival in 2013, as a way of celebrating Portuguese gastronomy and its close connection to the iconic Alentejo wine. This time around, there are approximately one hundred restaurants participating, mostly in Portugal, offering the best food pairings and confirming Monte Velho’s gastronomic bent and versatility. The list of participating restaurants and associated menus can be found on the official festival website, at www.festivalmontevelho.pt.

The brand’s association with the Alentejo is closely linked to its beginnings. Boasting the same origin and philosophy as Esporão Reserva, Monte Velho wines have always sought to reach more people and make wine drinking a daily experience. Produced according to the Alentejo’s winegrowing tradition, the variety of grapes and vinification techniques demonstrate the character of the region from whence it comes: rich aromas, a smooth palate and an excellent gastronomic bent.

The labels of the 2015 vintages, whose design was inspired by the patterns of the traditional Reguengos de Monsaraz rugs, further underline this celebration of Alentejo culture, highlighting a centuries-old art that is an integral part of the region’s cultural identity.
