Assobio Red 2017 receives 91 points in Decanter magazine

Assobio Red 2017, produced at Quinta dos Murças, received 91 points and comes ‘Highly Recommended’ in the latest edition of the Decanter magazine.

Assobio Red 2017 originates from vines located at high altitudes facing north, and is an elegant, extremely fresh wine that reveals good acidity. It is produced using the Douro’s most traditional grape varieties – Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca.

This year’s extremely hot and dry weather was characterised by an extended lack of rain and very high temperatures, which accelerated grape evolution and ripening. Due to this, the 2017 harvest began earlier than the previous year, in order to create a greater balance between concentration and acidity.

Decanter magazine characterises Assobio Red 2017 as fresh and elegant on the palate, with notes of red berries and a very floral nose. The tasting notes also underline good concentration and great cellaring potential.
