We want all the materials used in the bottling and packaging of our products to be as sustainable as possible.

Therefore, we reduced the glass
Using a rationale of overall improvement and responsibility, as well as the reduction of our environmental impact, we began using lighter bottles (420g) in 70% of our production. We sought to reduce wastage of materials and natural resources associated with the production of bottles and reduce transport costs: more bottles per container, reducing the ecological footprint that the extra-weight of the glass would imply. The CO2 saving (1,160 Ton eq.) is the equivalent of 490 return flights between Lisbon and Tokyo.
And rethought the packaging
For some of our wines, we have opted for FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) cork stoppers, made with the cork from estates run in such a way as to guarantee the environmental, social and economic needs of present and future generations. Foil tops are only used in 1% of Esporão wines, while we also reduced the number and quantity of ink used on the cases used to transport our products. The cardboard we use is 100% recyclable.
