The 2008 harvest produced the Alicante Bouschet, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Touriga Nacional varietals. In a year marked by a very dry summer with relatively low average temperatures, the four red varieties were selected because of the excellent ripeness of the grapes.
The decision to bottle these unique wines was made by our team of winemaker, led by David Baverstock, whose creative non-conformist approach is clearly visible in this innovative project for Esporão. Every year, it is nature and the winemaking team that decides which grape varieties will be bottled in very limited quantities. With these wines, Herdade do Esporão aims to surprise consumers once again and raise the quality standards of its products even further.
