Herdade do Esporão boasts a wide variety of habitats: small holm-oak forest areas, which constitute fragments of what was the Herdade’s primitive vegetation and which was transformed by man into cork-oak plantations, meadows and grassland rich in orchids, communities of vegetation that grow on rocks, ash-groves that house various protected species, oleanders and reeds in marshy areas and aquatic buttercup vegetation.
