There is a wide variety of species at Herdade do Esporão. There is approximately 200 different species of flora, the majority of those identified being herbaceous (around 80%), this is mainly due to the vast areas of cork-oak plantation that are managed with clearing and grazing, which prevents bushes from penetrating and allows the meadows to be maintained. Until now, various species have been identified that are of special interest to conservationists, some of them belonging to the orchid family: there were 7 different species at the last count.
