Esporão Azeites is in complete control of the olive oil production process. From the picking, selection and cleaning of the olive to the dehumidifying, storage and bottling processes, everything is done in a hygienically and technologically advanced environment. As such, we guarantee both our own standards and those required by the certifying bodies.
The Serpa pressing plant is crucial to this control, as it allows:
Exhaustive and intensive selection of 100% Portuguese olives;
The highest standards of hygiene;
The use of the latest technology in the entire process:
Control of temperatures of the olive paste from the time it is ground to when the juice is extracted from the olive (olive oil);
Control of olive paste humidity;
Control of the quantity of olive paste entering the Decanter;
Control of the temperature of waters used in the process.
Endowed with olive reception and cleaning areas, olive oil extraction lines and a cellar, our press has an average production capacity of 1 million bottles a year. This allows us to produce and commercialise good value extra virgin olive oil made from the olives from the Herdade do Esporão grove and other growers in the region. The only methods used at the press are mechanical and traditional.
