BOTTLING PLANT
 

The Esporão group has two bottling plants: one with the capacity to fill 3,500 bottles an hour (semi-mechanised) and another with the capacity to fill 6,000 bottles an hour (fully mechanised), the latter having been acquired in 2004.

 

The first plant uses the following processes:

1. Bottles enter.

2. Bottles are rinsed.

3. Bottles are filled in anti-septic environment.

4. Cork inserted with inert gas, followed by introduction of a vacuum.

Accumulation of bottles to allow the cork to decompress.

5. Capsules and labels added and batches coded.

6. Manual and automatic packing. Crated.

7. Product ready to age in bottle. Finished product.

 

The second plant uses the following processes:

1. Bottles enter.

2. Bottles are rinsed in anti-septic environment.

3. Bottles are filled in anti-septic environment.

(filler deposit protected with inert gas)

4. Cork inserted after dust cleaned from cork and vacuum/inert gas/vacuum system (in anti-septic environment).

              Bottles ready for ageing (premium wine segment).

              Bottles put down to age.                          

5. Capsules added (PVC, complex and air-tight).

6. Self-adhesive labelling.

7. Coding of batches on bottles by laser.

8. Automatic packing: wrap–around system or American system.

9. Cases coded.

10. Crated automatically.
