The Herdade do Esporão’s wine tourism programme has been included on the World Wine Route and it was the first to be certified in Portugal. If you would like to know how the estate’s wines are made, you can visit the winery and presses, the cellars and the filling plant. Those who are interested in discovering the estate can go on a jeep tour of the vineyards, olive groves and the dam. Visitors can now also tour on Segways, which are silent and non-polluting.  A further attraction is the Historical Centre (over 500 years old), where you can find the Esporão Tower, the Esporão Arch and the N. Sra. Dos Remédios Chapel.

After your visit you could always head for the Winebar, where you can taste one of the wines or olive oils and take in the wonderful view over the Barragem da Caridade dam. You can also take a wine course with the sommelier.
In the “A Galeria do Esporão” Restaurant you can sample some dishes prepared by Chef Ilda Vinagre, such as sopa de cação (dogfish soup), bacalhau frito à Esporão (Esporão fried cod) or the assado à Esporão (Esporão roast).
Recently, Herdade do Esporão became the first company in the winemaking sector in the world to join the Countdown 2010 initiative. It did this in order to continue to pursue its goals of protecting and defending biodiversity.  Given the wealth of species that can be found on the Estate, there are several activities related to nature, such as butterfly or bird-watching tours.
It is also possible to visit the Perdigões Archaeological Complex, where, in 1997, an important archaeological discovery was made. The discovery occurred in an area where vines were being planted and Herdade do Esporão decided to convert it into a site to be studied. In the museum, situated on the ground floor of the Esporão Tower, visitors can see some of those important discoveries.
